Traction

August 08, 2017

I just started a newsletter about Keto with my wife and friend. I’ve been doing keto for a few months now with great results. And the keto movement is beginning to enter the mainstream. In all the things I’ve put online, or businesses I’ve tried to start, this is the first one that I’ve experienced any traction.

I think this is what it feels like to hit a pain point. Growth hasn’t been spectacular, but there’s a definite gap and its tangible. First full week - 170 subscribers.

Things I did differently.

  • Didn’t wait to get it perfect before sharing.
  • Shared it on reddit, really the first community that I thought of. Didn’t overthink this.
  • Since the signup form was just a landing page, I made some effort to make it look pretty.

Other than that, I think this was just luck - right place, right time. I think if you’re naturally engaged in a community, and looking to solve problems, you’re more likely to be at the ‘right place, right time’. I think that happens more often that we think. In effect, you’re raising your chances of being ‘lucky’.

Going to remember what this feels like.

I'll tell you when I post stuff.
